With Warren ties Louis Sockalexis, the first-known Native American to play professional baseball and the man who most definitely inspired the nickname Cleveland “Indians.”
This portrait of a Warren town team, from the mid-1890s, shows a seated Sockalexis (front row, far left) with two of his Holy Cross College teammates and appears in both the original hardcover book (Tide-mark Press, 2003) and brand new paperback edition, published by Down East Books of Maine in August of 2019 (carried in most book stores around the state, espec Sherman’s Books, but also amazon.com).
We will have an Author’s Visit as soon as we are able too. We are very excited for this visit and Welcome all to attend!
